Our Services

Life care planning can be a complex task, but with experienced and thoughtful guidance,
can be simplified to achieve your most important goals and objectives. The importance
of early, comprehensive planning cannot be overemphasized, but there are often asset
planning strategies that can be implemented even when it seems too late.

Our Mission is to assist families to develop a health focused plan based on each families goals
and resources, to maintain health, independence and quality of life.

Planning Ahead

Aging challenges are a fact of life, and like any challenge must be faced with determination and accurate information in order to be met with success. At United Senior Advisors, Inc., we deal "holistically" with our clients in planning for their long-term health care, providing experienced, compassionate planning and advocacy for seniors, disabled adults/elderly clients in all phases of health and illness. For those seniors who are younger and relatively healthy, the planning involves strategies regarding:
  • Asset protection from potential future long term care costs – we provide a detailed analysis of a families financial resources and design and implement a plan that provides peace of mind as health needs change over time. Our planning addresses one of the biggest areas of exposure that seniors face if health declines – long term care in a nursing home that currently exceeds ten thousand dollars per month!

  • Long Term Care Insurance – we provide guidance as to whether or not long term care coverage is appropriate and advise on policy coverage that helps protect a families estate based on state Medicaid regulations.

  • Probate Avoidance – we provide a legal overview** regarding avoiding the Probate Court system whenever possible. Our planning involves avoiding the need for court involvement during one's lifetime (Guardianship/Conservatorship) by preparing living documents (Health Care Proxy/Durable Powers of Attorney/HIPAA Documents) that properly assign trusted individuals to act on your behalf in the event of mental or physical incapacity; as well as upon one's passing by establishing appropriate trusts that allow assets to be distributed to heirs and eliminate the need for the time consuming, public nature and high cost of the Probate process.

Community Care Planning

Oftentimes families come to us with either inadequate or no planning and are faced with the need to find a way to pay for care services without exhausting financial resources. We help identify all resources available to meet legal*, financial** and care goals and help evaluate all care options, assisting with health care and long-term care decision-making for the senior.
  • Community Based Programs - once we establish the individual family goals, we then support
a realistic action plan that includes evaluating benefits that can help cover the costs of care.
We evaluate Community based options if the plan is returning home or accessing a community based Medicaid program. The decision to access any one of these options are based on several factors, but mainly on maximizing the support system needed to keep a senior safe at home:
  • Frail Elder Waiver Program
  • PACE – Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly
  • Caregiver Homes
  • Personal Care Attendant
  • SCO - Senior Care Options
  • Veteran's Aid and Attendance Pension - for veterans or their surviving spouse who are in need of personal assistance.
  • Based on income, assets and care need as well as dates of service during war time.
*It is important to note that the asset transfer rules for community based Medicaid programs are different than for long term care benefits, and in most cases can be accessed before the 5 year look back time period.

Long Term Care Planning

There is no more important time to obtain our comprehensive guidance than when someone is facing care in a nursing facility. Our extensive experience and unique service model addresses 3 critical elements in planning - health care guidance and advocacy, legal overview* and financial guidance** to preserve assets, extend long term care dollars and access valuable benefits to cover costs of care. We are always prepared to shift gears throughout the planning process as health changes, and often our first contact with families is when a care setting change is necessary, or Medicare coverage is ending and care costs are soon to be over ten thousand dollars a month in a nursing home.

At USA, our key staff has over 18 years of combined experience and have helped thousands of clients develop comprehensive Estate and Asset Preservation Plans. You will find peace of mind knowing that we have "seen it all" and are best able to help you navigate through the maze of options that are available in a fragmented industry. Our in house Certified Nurse Case Manager and elder care advocate provides ongoing support through the life of our clients at no additional cost and is included in our flat fee agreements. Client's health conditions are constantly evolving and families feel comfortable knowing that they can contact us at any time with concerns about a particular health care issue or incident and be fully supported through that event with health advocacy, legal overview and financial guidance.

We offer an initial no-cost consultation and once retained, work on a one time, flat fee basis. Our fees include legal overview*, asset preservation** and care management guidance without the additional hourly billing costs of a Geriatric Care Manager.
